Tahoe Island Park Neighborhood

Our cabin is located in a quiet area known as the Tahoe Island Park neighborhood.  It’s a great location, no matter what season of the year. Homes in the area are generally lest congested, interspersed with natural forested areas.  The location is perfect for families who want to stay away from the Highway 50 congestion.  Yet you will still be close to activities, shopping, the best beaches and ski resorts.  We are just minutes from ski resorts, Stateline (Nevada), the best beaches and hiking areas.  You can’t find a better location for families.

The neighborhood is accessed via Emerald Bay Road (Highway 89) just a half mile past the intersection of Highway 50 and 89 known locally as “The Y”.  This area positions you for short drives to the best beaches along the Southwest side of Lake Tahoe, local favorites including Pope Beach, Camp Richardson, Tallac Historic Sites, Kiva Beach which is the premier dog-friendly beach in South Lake Tahoe, Baldwin Beach and the Taylor Creek Nature Trail area including a stream profile nature hike.  Fallen Leaf Lake is just a couple of miles away, the second largest lake in the area.  Just seven miles up the shore brings you to breathtaking views of Emerald Bay, Eagle Falls, Eagle Lake and trailheads for the Desolation Wilderness including the famous hike to the top of Mount Tallac. DL Bliss State Park and Vikingsholm are also convenient to this area.

Bike and Hiking Trails Near Us

You can catch the bike trail just a block and a half away. The trail will take you through the SouthWest beaches including Pope Beach, Camp Richardson, Kiva Beach and Baldwin Beach.

Just a short walk from our cabin, and you’re on a nature trail that meanders through forest and meadows home to local wildlife and wildflowers.  The trail then connects to the bike trail at Tahoe Keys.
